3rd Geotourism Conference, 30 October to 1 November 2011 OMAN
The
conference will provide the opportunity for earth
scientists, tourism practitioners, academics and protected area managers to
share knowledge and explore how geotourism can add value to destinations and the
visitor experience.
The Conference will
cover:
- Widening the scope of geotourism
- Education and interpretation
- Sustainable development of geotourism product and services
- Protected areas including geoparks
- Promoting and managing geotourism destinations
With unique geology
and friendly welcoming people, Oman
is an exceptional destination for a conference of this kind.
In addition
to excellent keynote and concurrent presentations the full day mid conference
field excursion will feature i-tourguide, Oman’s
latest geotourism project. This utilises GPS based interactive software
available for Windows Mobile, Android and iPhone; with “Moving Maps
Applications” and multi media interpretation of 30 Points of Interest (POI's) in
the Muscat region.
To encourage
international participation, the Oman’s
Ministry of Tourism has generously offered to host the Conference including
complimentary registration, conference dinner and mid conference field
excursion.
