12th European Geoparks Conference - Cileno and Vallo di Diano Geopark

Cilento and Vallo di Diano Geopark has the honor of hosting the 12th European Geoparks Conference, when the global development strategies of the Earth Sciences assume an important role in the world. The geo-hazards and climate change hardly affect all human activities and can strongly condition the future of humanity . Infact, life, property, economic and financial losses due to natural hazards and the impact of disasters on society have both increased dramatically over the last couple of decades.

Latest Global Geoparks 2012 - 21/09/2012

The Global Network of Geoparks now counts four new members, with the addition of sites in China, Indonesia, Hungary and Spain. The new sites bring the total number of Geoparks in the Network to 91, located in 27 countries. They were admitted by the Global Geoparks Network Bureau during the 11th European Geoparks Conference, which took place in Arouca, Portugal from 19 to 21 September.

The Global Geoparks Network links geological heritage sites of international importance, rarity or beauty that are also used to promote sustainable development for local communities.

THE SHIMABARA DECLARATION, Unzen Volcanic Area Global Geopark, 15 May 2012

The 5th International UNESCO Conference on Geoparks was held from 11-15 May 2012 in the Unzen Volcanic Area Global Geopark, Japan, and attended by 593 delegates from 31 countries. After deliberation, the delegates hereby affirm that:

Volcandpark 1st conference, 21-25 May 2012

Volcandpark is the first congress on the management of protected volcanic areas, including raising pubic awareness and geotourism. It aims to provide a forum for reflection and debate, combining knowledge of volcanology with land management and disseminating this information to the people who work in these volcanic areas. (National Parks, Natural Parks, Nature Reserves, etc.).

7th International Symposium ProGEO on the Conservation of the Geological Heritage

The Italian Society of Environmental Geology (SIGEA) and the European Association for the Conservation of the Geological Heritage (ProGEO) organise the 7th International Symposium on the Conservation of the Geological Heritage. People (professionals, academics, students) dealing with nature conservation, geotourism, geoparks, education, management, sustainable development, planning and decision-making, and other topics related to the theme of "geoheritage" are invited to participate and encouraged to present their data/experiences by submission of short abstracts.
